I’ve been using Retin-A for nearly 6 months now…I’ve never had so much cysts until now! My derm perscribed Tetracycline and told me to take it whenever my acne gets really bad. YOu weren’t clear in your post: did you have cysts b4 the Retin- A or did you only get them after using Retin-A? In the meantime, know that tetracyclin is an anti-biotic. Thus, it kills bacteria and relieve the infections (caused by bacteria). So, it will limit the infections. However, if cysts are already there, the tetra-cycline will be of little help. It doesn’t mean you should not take it, because it will probably help new cysts not to develop. If you suffer from cystic acne, I don’t know if Retin-A is the best route. Usually, accutane (oral form of Retin-A) would be prescribed. Of course, I’m no derm, just a cystic acne veteran and survivor. I found it was always good to get a second opinion from another derm. Finally, with both Retin-A or accutane, things will tend to be worse before they get better. -1of4 – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->I’ve been using Retin-A for nearly 6 months now…I’ve never had >so much cysts until now!
